AusIMM is the peak body representing all professionals in the global resources sector. AusIMM delivers an ongoing program of professional development services to ensure our members are supported throughout their careers, enabling them to provide high-quality professional input to industry and the community.
In 2018, there were 21,962 women working in the Australian mining sector, which has been steadily increasing each year. Whilst there is progress and momentum with an increase of women in management roles and a reduction in the gender pay gap, we must maintain this trajectory and continue the important conversation on gender equality. We are pleased to invite you to participate in a series of luncheons to celebrate International Women’s Day in 2019. The events will be an opportunity for you to join the AusIMM in committing to the progress, growth and promotion of the talented and diverse women in our industry.
This year’s theme “balance for better” calls on all resources professionals to be striving for change and create a sector that reflects the profound diversity of the Australian people, harnessing their skills and encouraging innovation. With a professional workforce that is mobile, sometimes remote, but with abundant opportunities for women, the resources sector needs to work on providing the balance needed for women to bring their skills and contribute to the exciting future of mining.
